Weight Transfer from Connected Weighing Platform

If a Frama scale or weighing platform is connected, the weight value for the postage calculation and settings can be transferred from the scale to the franking machine. This can be completed in the following ways.

Individual Weighing

1. Place mail item on the scale.

2. Press the “WEIGHT” button.

• The enter weight menu field appears.

3. Press the “STANDARD SCALE” button.

• Switches back to the working menu.

• Displays “SCALE” and the weight in the weight button field.

• Postage displayed in inverse type.

4. Confirm the value and frank the item.

5. Place the next item on the scale and repeat the above process.

Weighing Stacks

Weighing stacks of mail avoids having to weigh each letter individually on the scale and then removing them following weighing and weight transfer. The individual weighings are automatically made, that is, without any button pressing required and the relevant postage is calculated.

1. Place the stack of mail on the scale.

2. Press the “WEIGHT” button.

• The enter weight menu field appears

3. Press the “STACK SCALE” button.

• Switches back to the working menu.

• Displays “STACK” and the stack weight in the weight button field.

4. Remove the first letter from the stack.

• Displays individual letter weight in the weight button field.

• Sets the calculated postage in the value indicator field (not inverse).

5. Proceed with franking.

6. Remove the next letter from the stack.

• Displays weight and automatic postage setting.

7. Proceed with franking etc.

Checking the Zero point of a Weighing Platform

You can check for the correct zeroing of a connected weighing platform as follows:

1. Remove everything from the weighing platform.

2. Press the weight button.

• “SCALE 0 g” is displayed

3. The zero is correct.

OR

1. Go to menu for weigh entry

2. Press the “STANDARD SCALE” button

• “SCALE 0 g” is displayed in the weight button field.

3. The zero is correct.

In order to avoid incorrect weighings and thus incorrect postage, any possible zero point error must be corrected.

Taring a letter holder

If a special letter holder is temporarily used or permanently mounted to a weighing platform, then tare as follows.

1. Place (or mount) the letter holder on the scale.

2. Press the “INFO/SETUP 1” button.

3. Press the “TARE SCALE” button.

• The weight of the letter holder is displayed e.g. “WEIGHT IN GRAMS: 235”.

4. Press the “CE” button.

• Returns to the working menu.

• The display is “WEIGHT 235 g”.

5. Press the weight button field.

6. Press the “STANDARD SCALE” button.

• Returns to the working menu.

• The display is “WEIGHT 0 g”.

The letter holder is now tared. Note that the remaining weighing capacity is now reduced by the weigh of the letter holder.

IMPORTANT: If you later remove (or dismount) the letter holder, you must re-tare, that is, re-zero in accordance with the above instructions before doing any further weighing.

Correcting the Zero

If the weighing platform is empty and, for example, “2 g” or “-3 g” is displayed rather than “0 g”, then correct the zero as follows:

1. Press the “TARE SCALE” button.

• The display is “WEIGHT IN GRAMS: 2 g” (or “-3 g” for negative weight).

2. Press the “TARE SCALE” button.

• The display is “WEIGHT IN GRAMS: 0 g”.

3. Press the “CE” button.

• Returns to the working menu.

• The display is “WEIGHT 2 g” or (“-3 g”).

4. Press the WEIGHT button.

5. Press the “STANDARD SCALE” button.

• Returns to the working menu.

• The display is “WEIGHT 0 g”.

The zero has been corrected.

Calibration

In order to avoid inaccurate weighing and thus possibly incorrect postage calculations, you should check the measuring accuracy of the weighing platform from time to time by using a sufficiently accurate reference weight If the displayed weight does not agree with the weight of the reference, then you have to recalibrate the scale as described below (the person who is responsible for the machine should carry the procedure out):

1. Remove everything from the weighing platform.

2. Select the “TARE SCALE” button.

• The display is “WEIGHT IN GRAMS: 0”.

3. Press the Calibration button.

• You are requested to “Place calibration weigh on scale”.

4. Place the requested weight on the scale, e.g. 5000 g.

5. Press the Calibration button.

• The display is “WEIGHT IN GRAMS: 5000”.

6. Press the “CE” button.

• Returns to the working menu.

The weighing platform is newly calibrated.
