Mailstart+ Presets Support

Presets are referred to as the values automatically loaded by your franking machine when it starts. You can change them according to your needs. Please be aware that you have to select the respective setting (Envelope Message image – formerly logo, class required) in advance. Please proceed as follows:

1. Press the “Options” key.

2. Use the Review keys ▲▼ to scroll and select “Change setup”.

3. Confirm by pressing Enter/Yes.

4. Use the Review keys ▲▼ to scroll and select “Use Preset Setup”. Confirm by pressing Enter/Yes.

5. Display says “Turn Preset on? (Y/N)”. Confirm by pressing Enter/Yes.

6. Display says “New postal rates since preset created”. Confirm by pressing Enter/Yes.

7. Use the Review keys ▲▼ to scroll and select “Store new preset?”. Confirm by pressing Enter/Yes.

8. Display says “Review settings to be stored?”. Press the No key.

9. Display says “Confirm store new preset”. Confirm by pressing Enter/Yes.

10. Display says “View new preset?”. Press the No key.

11. Display says “Stay in Setup?”. Press the No key.

A preset is a snapshot of franking machine settings that are most commonly used. It creates what is known as a default. If the preset feature is enabled, the franking machine shows the preset values when it is turned on or ‘wakes up’ after sleep mode.

Note: To use a preset, the preset feature must first be enabled. See the support below to find out how to do this.

Note: The franking machine can only hold one preset. To edit the current preset, create a new preset to replace the existing one.

To create a new franking machine preset, you first need to select the desired settings on your franking machine: carrier, class, mail type, envelope message.

1. From the Home screen, press the “Review (down)” key to see what options are currently selected.
– Class and Mail type (Letter, Large Letter, etc)
– Account (if the meter’s Accounting feature is enabled)
– Ad (Envelope Message)

2. If you are happy with these settings, proceed to step 3. Otherwise, from the Home screen, press “Enter/Yes to select new values:
– Carrier
– Class
– Mail type (Letter, Large Letter, etc)
– Ad (Envelope Message)

3. Follow these steps to save these settings as a preset on your franking machine:
a. Press “Menu/Options”.
b. Press “Review (down)” until “Change setup?” is displayed. Press “Enter/Yes”.
c. Press “Review (down)” until “Use preset setup?” is displayed. Press “Enter/Yes”.
d. When “View stored preset?” is displayed, press “No”.
e. When “Store new preset?” is displayed, press “Enter/Yes”.
f. When “Review settings to be stored? (yes/no)” is displayed, select one of the following options:
– “Enter/Yes” if you want to review the current settings.
– “No” to go to the next step without reviewing the settings.
g. Press “Enter/Yes” to confirm the storing of the new preset.
h. When “View new preset?” is displayed, press “No”.
i. When “Stay in setup?” is displayed, press “No”. The franking machine returns to the Home screen.

A preset allows you to save as default the franking machine settings that are most commonly used:
– Carrier
– Class
– Mail type (Letter, Large Letter, etc)
– Ad (Envelope Message)

If the preset feature is enabled, the franking machine reverts to the preset values when it is turned on or wakes up from sleep mode.

If the preset feature is disabled, the franking machine reverts to the values last used.

Note: The franking machine can only hold one preset.

To turn the preset feature on:

1. Press “Menu / Options” key.

2. Press “Review (up)” until the display says “Change Setup?”, press “Enter/Yes”.

3. Press “Review (down)” until the display says “Use preset setup?”, press “Enter/Yes”.
a. If the preset feature is already ON, the display will show “View stored Preset?”.
b. If the preset feature is OFF, the display will show “Turn Preset ON?”. Press “Enter/Yes” to turn on.

4. When the franking machine displays “View stored Preset?”, press “Enter/Yes” to view your preset values if needed.

5. When finished, press “Clear” once and follow the prompts to return to the Main screen

To turn the preset feature off:

1. Press “Menu / Options” key.

2. Press “Review (up)” until the display says “Change Setup?”, press “Enter/Yes”.

3. Press “Review (down)” until the display says “Use preset setup?”, press “Enter/Yes”.
a. If the preset feature is ON, the display will show “View stored Preset?”. Press “Review (down)” twice until the franking machine displays “Turn Preset OFF?”. Press “Enter/Yes” to turn off.
b. If the preset feature is already OFF, the display will show “Turn Preset ON?”. Press “No”.

4. Press “No” to return to the Main screen.

Issue

“Invalid Preset” message displays on the franking machine after you change the ink.

Cause

The “Invalid Preset” message indicates one or more of the items stored within the preset on the franking machine are no longer present.

For example: an old envelope message or text message.

Resolution

Follow these steps to set up your preset again.

1. Press the “Review (down)” key to see the currently selected options from the Home screen. Check:
– Carrier
– Class
– Mail type (Letter, Large Letter, etc.)
– Account (if the franking machine’s accounting feature is enabled)
– Ad (Envelope Message)
Proceed to Step 3 if you approve these settings.

2. Press “Enter/Yes” from the Home screen to select new values.
– Carrier
– Class
– Mail type (Letter, Large Letter, etc.)
– Ad (Envelope Message)

3. Follow these steps to save your selected settings as a preset on your franking machine:
a. Press “Menu/Options”.
b. Press “Review (down)” until “Change setup?” displays. Press “Enter/Yes”.
c. Press “Review (down)” until “Use preset setup?” displays. Press “Enter/Yes”.
d. Press “No” when “View stored preset?” displays.
e. Press “Enter/Yes” when “Store new preset?” displays.
f. When “Review settings to be stored? (yes/no)” displays, select one of the following options:
– “Enter/Yes” to review the current settings.
– “No” to go to the next step without reviewing the settings.
g. Press “Enter/Yes” to confirm the storing of the new preset.
h. Press “No” when “View new preset?” displays.
i. Press “No” when “Stay in setup?” displays. The franking machine returns to the Home screen.
