Watch this video to learn how to replace the ink cartridge on your Mailbase Lite, Mailbase & Mailbase Pro franking machine.

Follow these steps to replace the ink cartridge:

1. From the home screen press “options”.

2. Page down until you see advanced features, select this option.

3. Select “Maintenance mode”.

4. Select “Printer Maintenance”.

5. Select “Replacement”.

6. Select “Replace Ink Tank”.

7. The machine will now ask you to “Open the cover to start replacement”.

8. If you have the larger scale platform that covers the lid on the machine, remove this and place to one side.

9. Open the cover on top of the machine.

10. Select “Replace Ink Tank”. The carriage will now move forward.

11. Open the green clasp, to reveal the cartridge.

12. Remove the old cartridge from the machine.

13. Remove the packaging and all tapes from the new cartridge.

14. Place the new cartridge into the machine.

15. Close the green clasp to lock the cartridge into place.

16. Close the cover on the machine.

17. Reset the scale on top of the machine.

18. The cartridge will load into the machine and will perform a maintenance cycle.

19. Clear any messages that may show up.

Follow these steps to replace the print head:

1. From the home screen press “options”.

2. Page down until you see advanced features, select this option.

3. Select “Maintenance mode”.

4. Select “Printer Maintenance”.

5. Select “Replacement”.

6. Select “Replace Print Head”.

7. The machine will now ask you to “Open the cover to start replacement”.

8. If you have the larger scale platform that covers the lid on the machine, remove this and place to one side.

9. Open the cover on top of the machine.

10. Select “Replace Ink Tank”. The carriage will now move forward.

11. Open the green clasp, to reveal the cartridge.

12. Remove the cartridge from the machine and place to one side as we will reuse this afterwards.

13. Squeeze together the two grey clips at the top of the print head and lift out the printhead.

14. Remove the new printhead from the packaging and remove any tape.

15. Squeeze together the grey clips and guide the printhead back into position.

16. Once in give the printhead a push until you hear a click.

17. Reinsert the ink cartridge.

18. Close the green clasp to lock the cartridge into place.

19. Close the cover on the machine.

20. Reseat the scale on top of the machine.

21. The cartridge will load into the machine and will perform a maintenance cycle.

22. Clear any messages that may show up.

Follow these steps to replace the print head: 1. Remove the Scale. 2. Open the top cover. 3. Select Replace Ink Tank.

Note: To stop the process, close the top cover.

Note: The message Moving Ink Tank To Replacement Position displays.

4. Flip the ink (tank) cartridge guard open. 5. Lift up and remove the ink (tank) cartridge. 6. While squeezing the two grey tabs on either side of the print head, lift and tilt the print head to the right as you remove it from your machine. 7. Pull up and remove the black cap on the new print head (if present). 8. Remove the protective tape from the bottom of the new print head. 9. Squeeze the two grey tabs on either side of the new print head and angle slightly while sliding it back into its holder. 10. Push your print head into place. There is an audible click when it is seated correctly. 11. Install the ink (tank) cartridge 12. Rotate the guard back to the closed position 13. Close the cover. Place the weighing scale. If the system does automatically return to the Home screen, press Continue.

To fix poor print quality issues, start by making sure you are using a Mailcoms ink cartridge. After that, you need to do a purge, and then clean the print head. Follow these steps to perform these procedures:

1. Press Options.

2. Press Page Down twice.

3. Select Advanced Features.

4.Select Maintenance Mode.

5. Select Printer Maintenance.

6. Select Purge.

7. Select Purge C.

8. When the purge finishes, the prompt to insert an envelope or label to print a test pattern displays. Insert an envelope or label as you normally would to print postage.

9. Your test pattern should appear as a grid with no broken lines or smears in the pattern. If the test pattern looks good, press Enter/Yes, then press Home to return to your Home screen OR if your test pattern looks incorrect, select Yes to exit to the Test Print screen, and then repeat the purge. You can do this up to three times, if needed.

10. Start print head cleaning.

10a. Select Replacement.

10b. Select Replace Print Head.

10c. Remove the scale, if one is present.

11. Access the print head.

11a. Open the ink tank access cover. The print assembly moves to the front of the meter.

11b. Open the print head cover.

11c. Remove the ink cartridge from the print assembly, and set it aside with the red circle facing up.

12. While squeezing the clips that hold the print head in place, lift the print head up and out of the meter.

13. Wipe the copper-coloured section of your print head with a dry, lint-free cloth.

14. Re-install the print head in the meter, making sure it clicks in place.

15. Re-insert the ink cartridge and close the print head cover.

16. Close the ink tank access cover. The ink tank mechanism re-initialises.

If the print quality is not optimal after completing all steps, you may need to replace the print head.

To run a print maintenance cycle on your franking machine please follow the following simple steps:

1. From the home screen press “Options”.

2. Page down until you find “Advanced features”, select this option.

3. Select the top option which is “Maintenance mode”.

4. Select the top option again which is “Printer maintenance”.

5. Press the second option down which is “Purge”.

6. Press “Purge C” as this is the most effective for resolving print problems.

7. The machine will now make mechanical noises as it cleans the print system.

8. Once complete the machine will ask you to insert a “Test pattern”.

9. Feed an envelope or label through the machine and examine the quality of the print.

10. The machine will ask “Is test pattern, OK?”, if it is click yes/enter to return home. If it is not OK, click “No” and the machine will repeat the cycle.

To clear a mail jam in your franking machine please follow the following simple steps:

1. Twist the handle at the front of the machine clockwise.

2. This will drop down the rollers.

3. Remove any items that are jammed inside the machine.

4. Twist the handle anticlockwise to close.

5. Press “Clear this message”.

6. The machine will now return to the home screen.

Follow these steps to perform a test print:

1. Select Options.

2. Select Page Down until you find Advanced Features. Once found, select Advanced Features.

3. Select Maintenance Mode.

4. Select Printer Maintenance.

5. Select Test Print.

6. Insert an envelope, a letter or a franking label. The franking machine will frank a test pattern.

7. Select Yes if you are happy with the test print.

8. Select No if you are unhappy with the test print. The machine will then perform maintenance to clean the cartridge.

You may wish to see how many items your franking machine has franked during its life time. To do this, simply:

1. Select “Envelope Printing”.

2. In the top right corner of the screen you will see a number highlighting the amount your franking machine has franked.
