FS Series 3 Connection Support
Frama FS Series 3 · Connection
How to fix connection and re-credit problems on the Frama FS Series 3, which connects through an analogue telephone line.
Why won’t my FS Series 3 connect or re-credit?
Most re-credit failures happen because the machine cannot get an outside line. A ‘Connection Error’ when adding credit nearly always points to the telephone line rather than the machine itself.
How do I fix a Connection Error on the FS Series 3?
Work through these checks in order – most connection errors are resolved by the first few.
- Check a telephone cable is plugged into the back of the machine and trace it to the wall socket.
- If the line needs a prefix to reach an outside line (such as ‘9’), make sure the machine is set to dial it. A line that works for a fax is usually suitable.
- If there is broadband on the line, make sure it runs through a broadband (ADSL) filter and not straight into the wall.
- Test the socket with an analogue phone and dial another number to confirm the line is live.
- Try a different telephone cable in case the existing one is faulty.
- If you use an ADSL filter, swap it for another – these can fail.
Note: The FS Series 3 connects through a standard analogue telephone line. Digital or VoIP lines may not re-credit reliably.
FS Series 3 Connection – Frequently Asked Questions
Why won’t my FS Series 3 connect?
A Connection Error nearly always means the machine cannot get an outside line. Check the phone cable, any dialling prefix and the broadband filter.
Does the FS Series 3 need a dialling prefix?
If your phone system needs a prefix such as 9 to reach an outside line, the machine must be set to dial it before connecting.
Can the FS Series 3 use a broadband line?
It connects via an analogue telephone line. If broadband shares the line, connect through an ADSL filter rather than straight into the wall.
