Wrapped & Packed

Always ensure that your mail is wrapped, packaged and addressed correctly so that damage is avoided. The Royal Mail processes mail via machinery which can occasionally result in damage to packaging. The Royal Mail will place any damaged goods into a bag, but to prevent damage your items should be packaged correctly. Follow the tips below for advice on wrapping and packaging your mail this Christmas.

– Use padded envelopes for sharp edges or odd shapes.

– Ensure outer containers are strong enough for their contents.

– Fragile items shouldn’t touch each other or the side of the container it is within.

– Fill containers with cushioning material, such as bubble wrap.

– Include a return address.

– Put your contact details on a piece of paper inside the item.

– Seal your items securely with tape along all edges, openings or potential openings.

– Use a “Fragile” sticker if need be.

Address Your Mail

The address should be clearly written on the front of your mail with a postcode always included (where possible). Be sure to use clearly labelled envelopes and include your return address if possible. A franking machine can apply your return address, along with a logo, every time you frank mail.
