Mailmark Franking Changes To Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed® & Signed For® Services

The Royal Mail have recently announced a major change in the franking machine industry in regards to the Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed® & Royal Mail Signed For® Services in the UK. This change means that from 1st November 2022, coloured adhesive labels will no longer be required & used by franking machine users for the Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed® and Royal Mail Signed For® products & services.

Currently all franking machine users select the required service on their franking machine, which is followed by a separate sticker being attached so that these additional services can be used. However, from 1st November 2022 the Royal Mail are introducing a brand new franking machine indicia that will include not only a Mailmark® barcode but also an S10 1D barcode, or a 2D barcode, along with some additional product name information and new alpha-numeric content within the visual service indicator boxes.

This change means that the use of a Royal Mail separate service sticker is no more. Instead, your franking machine will frank all the information the Royal Mail requires about their Special Delivery Guaranteed® & Signed For® Services within the S10 1D barcode or 2D barcode.

The Royal Mail are slowly making changes to the way mail is franked and the Royal Mail is mandating the use of the new indicia and barcodes with this coming as part of our modernisation programme.
