IS420/IS440 Scales Support

Quadient IS420 / IS440 · Scales

How to zero, re-zero, tare and troubleshoot the weighing platform on the Quadient IS420 / IS440, and how to enter a weight manually.

Why is my IS420 / IS440 not weighing correctly?

An incorrect weight, or a – – g display, is almost always caused by something interfering with the platform rather than a fault. Check the following:

  • Vibration or air drafts in the weighing area.
  • Something touching or resting on the weighing platform.
  • The weighing platform zero is not correct.

To correct it, place the machine on a solid, steady surface away from any door or fan, clear the platform and re-zero it. Always make sure the platform is clear when you switch the system on.

How do I zero or re-zero the weighing platform on the IS420 / IS440?

Zeroing resets the displayed weight; a re-zero in Supervisor mode physically recalibrates the platform.

Zero (user):

  1. Press Menu.
  2. Select Job Settings and press OK.
  3. Select Zero Weigh Platform and press OK.
  4. Remove all items from the platform.
  5. Press OK to zero the platform.

Re-zero (supervisor):

  1. Log in as supervisor and press Menu.
  2. Select System Settings and press OK.
  3. Select Weighing Functions and press OK.
  4. Select Zero Weigh Platform and press OK.
  5. Remove all items from the platform and press OK.

How do I tare the weighing platform on the IS420 / IS440?

Taring sets the weight to zero with a container in place, so only added contents are weighed.

  1. Press Menu.
  2. Select Job Settings and press OK.
  3. Select Tare Weigh Platform and press OK.
  4. Place the container on the platform.
  5. Press OK to set the weight to zero.

Note: A supervisor can tare from System Settings → Weighing Functions → Weigh Platform Tare.

How do I enter a weight manually on the IS420 / IS440?

Enter a weight by hand when a mail piece is heavier than the platform can weigh – the postage then prints onto a label.

  1. Select the postal class.
  2. Press Menu, select Job Settings and press OK.
  3. Select Weighing Type and press OK.
  4. Select Manual Weight Entry and press OK.
  5. Enter the weight in grams and press OK – the home screen shows the manual weight icon and the weight entered.

How do I change the default weighing settings on the IS420 / IS440?

From Default User Settings (Supervisor) you can set the default weighing type and turn automatic weight detection on or off so the platform is selected as soon as a mail piece is placed on it.

  • Default weighing type: Default User Settings → Base Settings → Default Weighing Type.
  • Auto weight detection: Default User Settings → Base Settings → Auto Weight Detection – select to activate or deactivate.
