Mailcoms Mailbase · Scales

How to fix manual weight and scale errors, zero the scale, and resolve a Mailcoms Mailbase scale that is not weighing correctly.

How do I fix a manual weight or scale error on the Mailbase?

If the machine shows manual weight or does not recognise the scale, reseat the scale.

  1. Remove the scale from the top of the machine.
  2. Reseat it, making sure the sides sit flush with the lid and the contacts are firmly seated (move it side to side).
  3. Press the Clear button a few times to reactivate the scale.
  4. When the display shows ‘Scale 0 g’, the scale is ready to weigh.

How do I zero the scale on the Mailbase?

Make sure the weighing platform is clear before zeroing.

  1. On the home screen, select Scales 0 g.
  2. Select Zero Scale.
  3. The scale resets and shows the correct weight.

Why is my Mailbase scale not weighing correctly?

This is usually the scale not communicating, not seated properly, or not level. Start by zeroing, then clean and reseat it.

  1. Remove any items from the scale, select SCALE, then Zero the scale.
  2. Test with a known weight – a £1 coin weighs 9g.
  3. If it is still wrong, switch the machine off and remove the scale. Split the scale into its two parts.
  4. Blow around both parts, the 9-pin connector underneath, and the port where the scale sits.
  5. Reassemble and reseat the scale, replace the power lead and switch on.
  6. Check the display shows ‘Scale: 0 g’ (zero it if not) and test again.
  7. If it still fails, remove the four rubber feet from the base of the scale – this has occasionally resolved the issue.
