To reboot a comms device with no internet on the DM300M, remove its power cable, wait for the lights to go out, then reconnect the power and wait for the green light before reconnecting the machine.
- Remove the power cable from the device.

- Wait for the green light to appear.
- Try to reconnect your machine.

What are the system requirements for PC Meter Connect on the DM300M?
To run PC Meter Connect for the DM300M, your PC must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Windows 2000, XP, Vista or 7 (32-bit or 64-bit).
- 1.2GHz processor, 512 MB RAM.
- A USB port.
- Administrative rights to install software.
- Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 (installed automatically if not present — a one-time installation).
- An internet connection.
Note: Mac, Linux and other non-Windows operating systems are not supported. FIPS mode is not currently supported on Windows 10.
How do I install PC Meter Connect for the DM300M?
To install PC Meter Connect for the DM300M, download the installer, run the .exe file, choose your language and follow the on-screen steps. PC Meter Connect lets your franking machine communicate with the Pitney Bowes Data Centre over your internet connection via USB.
- Download the PC Meter Connect file: pcmc-setup-v05_00_0081.exe
- If asked to Run or Save the .exe file, select Run. If you select Save, choose a destination you will remember, then open the file to launch the installer.
- When the installer launches, click Run to begin.
- Choose English (or your preferred language) when prompted.
- Follow the instructions through each screen.
How do I check my PC Meter Connect configuration on the DM300M?
To check your PC Meter Connect configuration for the DM300M, make sure you have the latest version installed and apply the correct internet settings from the system tray.
- Make sure you have the latest version of PC Meter Connect installed and that it is connected to the mailing system.
- Right-click the PC Meter Connect icon in the system tray (bottom-right of the screen) and select Internet Settings.
- Select Non-Chunked as the HTTP Transfer Encoding Method.
- Select HTTP or HTTPS as the protocol. If that option is greyed out, select Passive FTP Mode as the protocol.
How do I check my internet connection and firewall for the DM300M?
To check your internet connection for the DM300M, open a website such as www.mailcoms.co.uk from the PC — if it displays, your internet connection is working. Franking machines configured with Constant Connection connect to the PB Data Centre as a node on your Local Area Network; if a connection attempt fails immediately but you can still reach a website, you most likely have a firewall problem.
How do I fix DE00, DE01, DE04, DE014 or DE015 errors on the DM300M?
To fix DE-series connection errors on the DM300M, try connecting at a quieter time, reboot the machine and PC, and adjust the PC Meter Connect chunked and FTP settings.
- Try connecting in the morning when the server is experiencing less volume.
- Reboot your franking machine and PC to see if they respond as they start up. You will need to log on as a user on your computer.
You may also need to change the PC Meter Connect settings:
- Right-click the PC Meter Connect icon in the bottom-right of your PC (by the time and date).
- Click Internet Settings.
- Change the Non-Chunked setting to Chunked, click OK, then retry your connection.
- If that does not work, repeat steps 1–2.
- On the right-hand side under FTP Mode, change Passive to Active and retry your connection.
If all the above fail, uninstall and reinstall PC Meter Connect using the link in the install section above.
What does “Connection Lost” or PC Meter Connect proxy-only mode mean on the DM300M?
A “Connection Lost” message on the DM300M is usually a server-side issue at the postage company — the only resolution is to keep trying. If your PC shows “PC Meter Connect running in proxy only mode”, follow the same chunked and FTP steps as in the DE-error section above.
